What We Will Cover
Developments in Data Protection Law and Practice – Post GDPR
with Kate Colleary
Since it came into effect in May 2018, GDPR continues to be an ever evolving area of practice with risks and opportunities arising for colleagues on an ongoing basis. We need to comply with GDPR in our practices, but it is also a practice area that offers many opportunities. On this call we will also look at the developments in data protection law and practice since the introduction of GDPR.
On this session, will be joined by GDPR expert solicitor and IAPP Country Leader for Ireland Kate Colleary. Kate is Director at Pembroke Privacy; DPO; Principal at Colleary & Co; and CIPP/E and CIPM.
A Review of the Proposed Changes to Solicitors Accounts Regulations
with Sonya Lanigan
On this session, we will be joined by Sonya Lanigan, principal of John Lanigan & Nolan Solicitors and president of the Kilkenny Bar Association, who will be discussing the proposed changes to Solicitors Accounts Regulations from a perspective of the small business.
Sonya will review and highlight in particular the potential impact in terms of time and expense on the compliance partner or principal who is very often the main fee earner.
An Overview of Anti-Money Laundering Compliance for Solicitors
with Martin Lawlor
One of the biggest risks in your practice is failure to comply with anti-money laundering requirements. Non-compliance can result in direct, personal, criminal liability for solicitors.
Closing our Dublin Roadshow is our own Martin Lawlor, who is a former chair of the Law Society’s Money Laundering Reporting Committee and incredibly knowledgeable and experienced in this area. Martin will be bringing us through exactly what you need to know to ensure compliance and protect your firm.
He will explain the fundamentals of anti-money laundering in practice, what you need to have in place and what you should be doing in your practice today to ensure that you are in compliance with the regulations.
