I would say to a colleague that Solicitors Growth is the first professional grouping that I have been involved in where I feel a strong sense of support for someone running a small practice. I would also say that all the topics discussed are very relevant and are very well presented. I would also say that I like the fact that it is a group that doesn’t take itself too seriously and likes to have a bit of fun.

I joined because
I do think it is very important to keep up with what's happening in our profession, especially as a sole practitioner. It will also be nice to get to know new colleagues. Our profession can be very isolating. It is very helpful from the knowledge that our colleagues share so generously and if you had a issue you could hope to get some good feedback. And of course, CPDs all in one place, which are always very informative and relevant. I am so far very happy with the experience.

It is a varied and collaborative forum, which operates on the basis of collegiality and offers a platform in which you can be as participative as you wish to be, in terms of attendance and contributions and where queries can be raised, either on an open or on an anonymous basis, so there is something for everybody depending on your approach and, as an offering, gives real and tangible value to its members.

I would recommend membership to a colleague for collegiality, CPD points delivered in a very engaging manner on topics which are highly relevant, important and practical.
Ursula Condon Flynn
Solicitor
For obvious reasons, some of the content is more relevant to private practice than to in-house solicitors like myself, but still useful training (and beloved CPD hours) and a nice sense of community for people who don’t work as part of a legal team.
Orm Kenny
Solicitor
I’d recommend it by saying that it has created a sense of community and collegiality as well as giving regular, hassle-free access to useful CPD.
John O'Keeffe
Solicitor
I would say that it’s very exciting and a great comfort to be part of a community of solicitors who will provide support on any issue, big or small, at any time. It’s a fun and dynamic group of people, all interested in helping each other out. The webinars are always topical, interesting and even fun! It’s also great to know that CPD requirements are taken care of for the year.
Aoileann Ni Dhuill
Solicitor
The way the network is set up makes it easy to participate if you want to and to ignore if you don’t. Good to have a simple facility to click if you want to attend on calls and just about the right level of gentle ’persuasion’ that I should be doing something more than I am in lots of directions.

I would recommend the SG to any party on the basis that it is an active group for all solicitors dealing with all the topical and relevant concerns of all solicitors, and an extremely efficient and collegiate way of keeping in touch with an evolving profession, learning new concepts and having a back-up resource if needed.
Annette McCarthy
Solicitor
A very useful way of completing your CPD hours from the comfort of your own desk.

Don’t underestimate the value of collegiality, you are never alone.

The main attraction are the webinars, our CPD is kept up to date and it's interactive and helps to keep in touch with colleagues.

Firstly, I tell colleagues that it is a good forum for connecting with our colleagues, not just in Covid times, but throughout the year. It is great for CPD points and very good value. The questions and answers section is very useful and also getting other perspectives on day-to-day issues is helpful. I find that it is a good moral booster - good humour and banter through the hour can lift the spirits at times when we feel under pressure.

If I was recommending SG to a colleague, I would say it’s a great way to keep up to date on changes in the law or practice. It’s also a forum for bouncing ideas and problems with like-minded and helpful colleagues. Look it, we all know and have colleagues that would not be SG types, they have no interest in lifting each other up; they simply wish to better their own interests. And that’s fine. But the majority of our colleagues really want to see each other do well; a thriving profession is good for us all and I love being a part of that.

Its mostly the webinars I tune in for, but it also gives me an idea of colleagues who are on it, so if I do have an issue, I have some names in my head of colleagues I might be able to pick up the phone to. Many names are already familiar to me particularly since I qualified in 1983, you tend to come across the same people over the years, which is great. I think that SG has restored that sense of collegiality which had been missing, or thin on the ground, for a long time.

I would definitely recommend Solicitors Growth to other solicitors and indeed, have already done so. Keep up the great work.

Informative, immediate response to queries, great access to colleagues and last but not least, the sheer entertainment from Team SG!

Apart from the CPD lectures, which are always excellent, you have a wealth of knowledge and expertise at your fingertips from colleagues who are always eager to oblige.
Martin Cosgrove

I would say that it is a forum for solicitors to keep in touch and up to date with current developments, especially for sole practitioners. The quality of the CPD speakers is very good and the range of topics and subjects is excellent.
Kayanne Horgan
Solicitor
The positive attitude emanating for yourself and Martin together with the guest speakers is very welcome. The Solicitors Growth is a private club for solicitors in a very different way to The Law Society.
Helena M. Brady
Solicitor
It’s very good from the practical practice perspective that isn’t really catered for by any other forum, and the topics covered are very much geared to the everyday practice of law and running a legal practice.
Barbara Ceillier

I am absolutely delighted to have joined the Solicitors Growth network. I returned to practice last year after a long absence and really appreciate all the assistance and support that I receive from other colleagues. It has been such a great source of support to me and I look forward to your webinars every Thursday, which are so informative and relevant. Thank you for having me.

The first thing I would say to a colleague is that Solicitors Growth is a community in itself where we have three very dedicated solicitors
working very hard in providing members with all the relevant up-to-date information and material that we need in our day-to-day practice through the monthly webinars. Most importantly, personalised CPD certificates are provided after each webinar and your entire CPD requirement for the year is covered, no need to look anywhere else
unless you want to.
Stevroy Steer
Solicitor
CPD is excellent and a very easy and disciplined way to fulfil your requirement without leaving the office. The topics are well chosen and the presenters are knowledgeable. Perhaps could do with more technical legal CPD seminars on specialised areas. The only issue is that there is too much unnecessary “chatter” and rubbish and excessive emails from them (who really cares about Martin’s pregnant dog!!!!!!) in a time when we are all being beaten up daily by our inboxes. It’s a bit like a social network. If you can get over that, then the app is a really good source of info and help from colleagues on technical issues.
Val Stone
Solicitor
The reasons would be the seminars and the app that I feel creates a great community feel and is a great help on questions as well.
Aisling Cahill

A great support in so many aspects of a solicitor's life. Money so well invested in oneself and one's practice.
Joseph Keyes
Solicitor
The collegiality is very important and sometimes that is lost in the hurly burly of practice, but I am doing it long enough to know why it is so vital and needs to be encouraged.

Provides very practical CPD, which are very good value. Also provides a level of important collegiality in these Covid times. Also, the Solicitors Growth network is a good forum to deal with interesting legal issues and helps you realise that I'm not the only one scratching my head on issues. Again, great sensor support from other colleagues.
James Staines
Solicitor
The sessions are practical and on topic and because they are given by practitioners and deal with queries as they arise on the day, are very much geared towards everyday practice rather than delivered as lectures setting out how matters should be dealt with in a perfect world, because we do not live in a perfect world!
Susan Fenton
Solicitor
I think I would say that as small practices, we are better and stronger by pulling together. We are all on the same road, have many of the same mini crises every week. It’s an old adage, but a problem shared can very often be a problem solved and what you see in a legal community is just that - colleagues doing their best for their clients and community.
Kevin O'Higgins
Solicitor
Presently, it has a lovely “clubby” feel, and logging in is more a pleasure than a chore, unlike other CPDs. It`s also good to know about the other supports and benefits available within the network. I am from west Limerick, and even though my practice is based in Dublin, I find the fact that SG is not Dublin-centric very refreshing.
Seamus Downes
Solicitor
It is a really relaxed, no-stress environment in which to catch up with current topics and brush up on other subjects. The posting of questions and answers is really useful too and the friendly chat before we get down to business helps set the tone of collegiality. Keep up the good work lads.
Jennifer Haughton
Solicitor
On the CPD front, this is cost-effective CPD provided by colleagues or chosen by colleagues – so not a professional seminar provider, so I feel it is more relevant. But more than this, it provides an opportunity to develop and strengthen collegiate links and it has certainly helped me to feel more connected to my profession. To this end, the in-person event in February will be very valuable.
Jennifer Maher
Solicitor
Great platform as a sole practitioner to tease out problems. Also keeps one up to date with any changes coming up.
Barbara Sherry

CPD is great and very helpful. Haven't got around to using Portal yet but hope to do so during August when I have some time.
Pat O'Reilly

It keeps you up to date with various branches of law through seminars, with the bonus of CPD points.

If you want to get valuable content in a community atmosphere, then use Solicitors Growth. It’s a great place to have your CPD sorted, raise your game and be part of a community of other like-minded colleagues.
Colm Kelly
Solicitor
I would say it is fun first, informative, deals with relevant issues and topics and does a very helpful digest in each webinar of what is currently going on in the profession. And, did I say it was fun? You guys work, have rapport/dynamic and it's evident. By you guys, I mean Catherine Tobin as well, of course.
John Murray
Solicitor
Great way for small firms to have some of the benefits of larger firms, such as running a query by others, keeping up to date with current changes, reminding us to get our policies in place (and giving us pointers on how to go about it). CPDs being looked after at the same time is great.
Colin Muldoon
Solicitor
Convenient, topical, and accessible.
Eamonn Keenan

It's arranged to suit solicitors at lunchtime and is actually interesting because of the method of presentation.
Sean Acton

The Solicitors Growth is a very well run, professional and informative service. Keeps you captivated and well informed.
John Reidy
Solicitor
I would say that the seminars are excellent, that I have watched more than I would go to in any year as they are more relevant to me than the ones I normally go to just to get my CPD point. My only complaint is there are too many and I have not caught up on all of them!

It’s our community, so while estate agents say 'Location, location, location', Solicitors Growth members say 'Collegiality, collegiality, collegiality'.
Eamon Carney

The Network provides collegiality, valuable information and assistance. It is extremely time and cost effective and no doubt is an answer for many practitioners.
Paul Cunningham
Solicitor
I would say that it is a colleague-focused forum where information is shared willingly. It is most helpful for the 1=5 person practice.
Mary Garrick
Solicitor
You have filled a void in that I can do all my CPD by sitting in my office. I can’t see this changing a whole lot when the new normality returns. Whatever that is.
Danny Morrissey
Solicitor
The group is useful to get your CPD online through the year, and not to leave it until the end of the year. It is also a valuable collegial network, which is a reassurance nowadays.
