When the Work Stays With You: Supporting Solicitors Through the Emotional Weight of Practice

Presented by Solicitors Growth Network on 16th April 2026

As solicitors, we carry more than caseloads. We absorb our clients’ distress, navigate difficult professional relationships, and manage emotionally complex situations – often without anywhere to process what that does to us. For sole practitioners and those in smaller firms, that emotional weight can be particularly isolating.

In this webinar, we are joined by two expert psychotherapists, Patricia Sisk and Belinda Moller, for a session exploring a proven, peer-support model that gives solicitors a confidential, structured space to reflect on the emotional complexities of their work – the Balint Group.

Originally developed in the medical profession, Balint Groups have been used across helping professions for decades to help practitioners manage the emotional impact of their work. Uniquely, they are not therapy and they are not supervision – they are a reflective peer-support practice that helps professionals develop greater emotional awareness, build resilience, and ultimately sustain themselves in demanding roles.

Patricia and Belinda share how this model works in practice and why it is uniquely suited to the challenges solicitors face.
